Karlsruhe: The Baden State Museum

In Karlsruhe’s magnificent palace, the cultural and historical museum covers the world, as well as the heritage of the old dukedom of Baden.

Climb the 165 steps to the top of the palace tower (140 ft/42 m) to appreciate the fan-like urban design of the city streets. It’s a wonderful vista!

No matter what period of history you prefer, the chances are that you will find something here, from Egyptian and Mesopotamian artifacts to Greek and Cretan antiquities. There are coins and ornate hunting weapons, even spoils from the Wars of the Ottoman Empire (16th - 18th centuries), commonly known as the Turkish Wars.
