Maulbronn Monastery

The former Cistercian abbey of Maulbronn is the best-preserved medieval monastery north of the Alps.

 The 850-year-old complex has a variety of architectural styles. Outstanding are the abbey church with its choir stalls (1450) and Romanesque screen, the porch dating from around 1220, and the late Gothic vaulting dating from the 15th century.
 After the Reformation in the 16^th century and the dissolution of the monasteries, Maulbronn became a Protestant school, and is now a Protestant theological seminary.
