Landscapes

SouthWest Germany is green and clean. Much of the countryside has been protected, not only in state parks, but also in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Visitors are struck by the sheer diversity of the region. Dense forests contrast with lone trees on open heath land; lovely valleys lie below mountain pastures, rich with wild herbs; mirror-calm lakes and crystal-clear streams are steps from Stone Age caves. And the people who live here have always wanted to be in harmony with the natural environment that surrounds them. Today, they not only maintain these beautiful landscapes, but they have also revived old traditions to create a bridge between agriculture, tourism and the environment. The aim is to ensure that future generations will enjoy the same unspoiled beauty.
