One of several good outdoor museums, this recreates life in a mountain village. The old buildings were rescued from demolition and moved on to this site. It’s all a reminder that the “good old days” were not quite as romantic as we often like to think. Soak up the atmosphere of days gone by in the 24 historic buildings: the church, the blacksmith’s, the school, the bakery, the sawmill, the wash house, and the harsh world of the weaver.

Neuhausen ob Eck is 15 miles/25 km from Lake Constance; 75 miles/ 120 km south of Stuttgart.

Tuesday to Sunday 9 to 6pm. Last entry 5pm.
Closed Mondays, except holidays.
