Pfahlbau Museum (Lake Dwellings Museum)

This is no ordinary museum. Built on wooden pilings or stilts on the edge of Lake Constance, the Pfahlbaumuseum at Uhldingen-Mühlhofen is a recreation of a Stone Age and a Bronze Age settlement.

Step back 3,000 years in time as you walk out on the wooden boardwalks supported by wooden piles. These historically-accurate dwellings contain the everyday tools, weapons and cooking vessels used by peasants, fishermen and bronze casters back in the Stone Age and the Bronze Age.
On a one-hour long guided walk, learn about the daily lives of people that lived right here thousands of years ago (4,000 to 850 BC). As well as the buildings, there are also changing exhibitions and archeological experiments.

Uhldingen-Mühlhofen is 125 miles/200 km south of Stuttgart.
