Sigmaringen Castle
Standing high on a cliff above the Danube, Schloss Sigmaringen was built as a fortress. Over the centuries, it has been transformed into a royal residential palace, complete with fairytale towers and turrets, bay windows and terraces. 60 miles/100 km south of Stuttgart.
The Castle of the Counts of Hohenzollern
The Hohenzollerns were one of Europe’s most important dynasties – so it’s not surprising that they owned more than one castle! This one has been in the family since 1534 and there is much to see: sumptuous rooms filled with antique furniture, magnificent chandeliers, Flemish tapestries and valuable paintings.
