The Feldberg Mountain
At 4,898ft/1,493m, the Feldberg is the highest point in the Black Forest. Back in 1907, the world’s first patented ski lift hummed into action here. Now a cable car whisks you to the top, for hiking in summer or skiing in winter.
Criss-crossed with hiking trails, the Feldberg is one of three peaks that, taken together, are a popular destination. And there is a nice family-oriented hotel, the Feldberger Hof, on the top. In winter, Feldberg is a busy ski resort, with 14 ski-lifts and 16 runs, from easy family-friendly runs to the challenging FIS World Cup run. Popular with locals, Feldberg has sunny slopes, kindergartens, a snowboard fun park, free-ride runs and a good choice of restaurants.
