The Wilhelma Zoo

There is nowhere else in the world quite like the Wilhelma Zoo. It is really a unique combination of zoological and botanical gardens, with historic buildings as well as animals and plants.

In this green oasis in Stuttgart, there are some 8,000 animals from 1,000 species, making it one of the most diverse zoos in the world. Add in some 6,000 plant species and varieties in the historic park and in the greenhouses and this is a truly special place to visit. Everyone loves to watch the apes and sea lions, while walking through the South America Enclosure, the Tropical House and the greenhouse with its tree ferns is like visiting another part of the world, without the journey! And you never have to worry about the weather: There are plenty of attractions indoors, with the animal and plant houses linked by covered corridors.
