The days of the airship are not over. In fact, some experts see them making a comeback. Certainly these “blimps” are still made in Friedrichshafen and you can still go for a flight!
Over 100 years since the first ascent, the Zeppelin NT floats noiselessly through the skies above Lake Constance. The German Zeppelin-Reederei has 11 routes on offer, with flights lasting anything from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Thanks to large bay windows, passengers have fantastic views from all seats: the lake, the Alps and to four countries. This is a unique way to fly!
Air tours take place at a height of approx 1,000 ft/300 m above the ground. This is the minimum height allowed in the Lake Constance area. For these passenger flights, the airship travels at about 37-43 mph/60- km/h.
Friedrichshafen is 125 miles/200 km south of Stuttgart.
