A gateway to the Black Forest, Pforzheim has been an international center for watch-making and jewelry for over 250 years. No wonder it was nicknamed the “Golden City” (Goldstadt)!

Highlights

• World of Jewelry (Schmuckwelten Pforzheim): A shopping mall devoted to jewelry, with its own museum, where you can see gold bars and 5,000 specimens of precious gems. You can watch craftsmen at work, and then buy their creations. By the way, “Schmuck” means jewelry in German!
• Jewelry Museum (Schmuckmuseum): A wonderful display, with 2,000 pieces of jewelry, from rings and earrings to pins and necklaces, spanning 5,000 years of design and craftwork.
