The Baroque palace owes its name to its most famous inhabitant: Wolfgang Heribert von Dalberg. As Vice President of the Court Treasury, he developed the idea of a Mannheim National Theatre - along with the thoroughly modern notion of attracting new visitors to Mannheim. As its first Intendant, Dalberg brought Friedrich Schiller to Mannheim, where his "The Robbers" had its premiere. Today, the Dalberghaus houses the Children's and Youth Library.
