The name Kaiserberge comes from the fact that Hohenstaufen was the family seat of the royal and imperial dynasty of the Staufers. The remains of the castle can still be seen today. There's also a castle ruin on the Rechberg which houses an exhibition room with artefacts and a model of the former castle, testifing to how the lords of Rechberg once lived with a direct view of the Hohenstaufen.Only the Stuifen wasn't populated in the Middle Ages, but still offers magnificent panoramic views.
