Laufenburg-two countries, one city: Hardly any other town along the Upper Rhine has been depicted by famous artists as often as Laufenburg. Until the end of the 18th century the territory of Laufenburg belonged to Austria. With the decree "Frieden von Lunéville (1801)" Napoleon Bonaparte declared the Rhine to be Country border.
