At the Hauff Museum of the Prehistoric World, spectacular fossil finds from the fossil site of Holzmaden are on display. They date from the Jurassic period 180 million years ago, when much of Europe was covered by a tropical sea.
A four-metre-long ichthyosaurus with its young, a huge colony of water lilies, a steneosaurus and other sea dwellers of the Jurassic period attract visitors to Holzmaden from all over Germany.
There's also the sensational Dinosaur Park with life-size replicas of dinosaurs.
