Description
Kunsthalle Würth was inaugurated in 2001 by Gerhard Schröder, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany at that time, and has since then developed into a magnet for visitors. The Danish architect Prof. Henning Larsen ingeniously integrated its modern architecture into the historic town of Schwäbisch Hall. The building is an experience in itself. The temporary exhibitions are based on the collection of the entrepreneur Prof. Dr. h.c. Reinhold Würth, who founded the Muesum Würth in Künzelsau back in 1991 and who is acknowledged nationwide as a famous patron of arts.
So far there have been big monographic shows of Eduardo Chillida, Max Liebermann, Anthony Caro, Henry Moore, Horst Antes, Fernando Botero, Edvard Munch, Georg Baselitz, David Hockney, Niki de Saint Phalle and others, as well as exciting thematic presentations.
The museum offers guided tours, educational activities and accompanying programmes. There are a lot of talks, concerts or readings in the attractive Adolf-Würth-Saal (Adolf-Würth hall). In 2003 the brewhouse was opened, an impressive 1903 brick building next to the museum, in which further exhibition rooms, rooms for museum education and restaurants are located.
