The Schluchsee lies in the middle of the Black Forest Highlands at an altitude of 930 m above sea level, has a length of 7.5 km and a maximum width of 1.5 km.
With a water surface area of 5.14 km² and a depth of 62 m, the Schluchsee is the largest Black Forest lake and is also the largest lake in Baden-Württemberg.
