Moss-covered fountains, tall old trees and the melancholy beauty of funerary monuments await you at Mannheim's main cemetery. Here you can go back in time as you stroll through the city's past. Particularly impressive is the the Byzantine-style arcade construction at the cemetery entrance. To the east of the main cemetery, surrounded by lime trees and horse chestnuts, lies the Jewish cemetery. Many leading Mannheim residents are buried here, including the co-founder of BASF, Seligmann Ladenburg.
