A visit to the cemetery takes you on a stroll through Freiburg's past and art history, from baroque to neoclassicism. St. Michael's Chapel in the middle of the cemetery was built in 1720. It was heavily damaged during World War II, but later restored to its original condition.
In the summer, this park with its old shady trees is a particularly place among Freiburg's residents. It is an ideal spot for a lunch break, on one of the many park benches, or a relaxing stroll after work. Enclosed by a high cemetery wall, the park conveys a feeling of complete seclusion right in the middle of the city.
