Open-air museum Oberschwäbisches Museumsdorf Kürnbach
At the Museumsdorf, you can immerse yourself in over six hundred years of Upper Swabian history! You can get hands-on, and participate in this open-air museum which brings village living from a time gone-by back to life: explore the unique farmhouses, with their rooms and workshops, as well as cottage gardens and old animal breeds, all just as they were up to 600 years ago.
Whether you come on a quiet day, or visit for one of the many events we run, there is always something new to discover across our expansive museum site with around 40 historic buildings set in over 600 years of history.

Explore through our app!
When exploring our old houses, open up the discovery tour on our free museum town app, available in English, to find out more about the people who lived here. (available in the museum shop)
Diverse range of events
Each Sunday, we put on a range of small and larger events for visitors across the Museumsdorf. Come and watch our museum craftsmen at work, and have a go yourself! Have you ever spun rope, or forged glowing-hot iron?
An outing for all the family
There is plenty for children to discover in our houses, and they can often experience for themselves what life was like in the olden times.
They will be delighted with the play area and its adventure tree-house, and a chance to play a game on the historic bowling alley offers fun for old and young alike! Each Sunday you can even ride on the miniature steam railway offered by the Swabian Railway Association.
