The exhibition in Schwetzingen Palace presents the history and development of the orangeries, from the movable bitter orange house to a fixed, heatable building, and provides interesting insights into the care of exotic tub plants as well as the elaborate transplanting and transport techniques in the 18th century. Large-format, richly illustrated display boards in the exhibition provide information about the exotics prized at European royal courts, such as pomegranate, oleander, agaves, opuntias and the coveted citrus plants. The visit to the exhibition in the Orangery is included in the admission to the Palace Gardens. Information on opening hours is available at the palace box office.
