In Merdingen there are still traces of a Roman estate from the 1st century AD. The bath was equipped with all the achievements of Roman civilization. Thus, both a cold and a hot water tub were present. The bath was heated with the usual Roman underfloor heating.
The remains of the bath were discovered before the Second World War. In 1977-78, the site was examined more closely and a bath was recognized in it. To protect the excavation a roof was built over it in 1980.The bath can be reached on foot and by bike from Merdingen. On the way, the Bettelbrünnle invites you to linger and barbecue.
