From the 12th to the 18th century, the Counts of Montfort determined the fate of the surrounding communities, as well as large parts of what is now Vorarlberg. Especially in the 18th century they proved to be generous donors of several baroque chapels.

The modern Kressbronn of today has a good infrastructure for locals and vacation guests.
