After a fire, the hospital complex and a new chapel were built in 1541, incorporating parts of the old building. In 1386, the Konstanz-based Bishop Nikolaus II of Riesenburg enacted an appeal for funds for the Holy Spirit Hospital, the construction of which was already in process. For the last hundred years, the building has served as retirement home and nursing home.
