After Mannheim had become established as the leading goods handling centre on the Upper Rhine in the 19th century, a commodity exchange was founded in 1862. The former exchange building today houses the "Städtische Musikschule Mannheim" - one of the largest music schools in Germany with more than 6,300 students. "Music for everyone" is the basis of all the school's didactic work, in which active music making and its positive effects on those making the music are learned and experienced. You can share the benefits yourself, whether in a symphony concert, jazz performance, piano or guitar recital. Whichever you choose, you are guaranteed to be transported from everyday life for a short while.
Top tip: Enjoy your coffee or a freshly prepared tea next to the music school together with a piece of cake in the historical Wilhelminian ambience of Café Prag.
