The Baden-Baden Rebland area
The Rebland area is synonymous with fine wine and treats for the palate.
Beschreibung
This area of lush, sun-drenched countryside lies south-west of Baden-Baden, and offers amazing views of the Rhine plain and the Black Forest. The "sun terrace" of Baden-Baden is just 10 minutes drive from the centre, and it is a great place for gourmets and wine buffs. It is one of the best-known Riesling wine regions in Germany, with a whole host of excellent wines. It doesn't take long to find an inviting restaurant around here. There are plenty of charming half-timbered guesthouses to stay at in the three communities of Rebland - Steinbach and Umweg, Varnhalt and Neuweier, which is a well-known leisure resort. Against the stunning backdrop of the rolling vineyards, the guesthouses offer a bit of local colour, and fine cuisine for a culinary voyage of discovery. Whether you are a demanding gourmet or you just like local food from Baden-Baden, whether you have a big appetite after a long walk or you are just out for a sunny stroll, you are guaranteed a warm welcome at the cosy pubs, in the gourmet restaurants and on the spacious sun terraces. There are more sun-drenched delicacies to enjoy at culinary wine tastings at the cellars of the famous vineyards of the Rebland region. The winemakers will be happy to give you a look behind the scenes at how wine is bottled, and answer your questions about grapes and wine. There are excellent paths, such as the Ortenauer Wine Route above Varnhalt, for walking and hiking through the vineyards and forests, and stopping at beautiful viewing points. Local sights include Neuweier Castle, one of the most beautiful castles on low ground in Germany, and the medieval city wall and half-timbered housing of Steinbach, and there is much more to see and do in the Rebland region.
