The 1.8-kilometre woodland trail along the Altvater makes an entertaining stroll for the whole family, with plenty to discover and learn. On narrow paths the trail passes through changing forest landscapes along a quarry. The loop provides information about the forest ecosystem and its trees and animals.

Visitors are rewarded with magnificent views of Lahr, the foothills and the Langenhard National Natural Heritage Site.
A small woodland playground offers an opportunity to rest and play.
