Beer, Baroque and views of the Bodensee
This former seat of the Counts of Montfort boasts three castles, hop gardens in the surrounding area, and electrical engineering for the global market.
The Counts of Montfort’s pretensions to power are evident in the New Palace. This four-winged complex is among the most significant, secular Rococo creations in Upper Swabia. Visitors can take a guided tour of the New Palace (April to October, Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 am to 4 pm, every hour on the hour).
The Tettnanger Hopfenpfad (walking route) runs from Bärenplatz to Hopfengut N°20. Along the way, walkers will learn all sorts of things about hop cultivation and beer production – with the loveliest lake and mountain views. It doesn't matter whether you follow the Hopfenpfad going up or down: fine beer and delicious food awaits you at either end.
The Electronics Museum shows the development of this industry in Tettnang, and its exhibits include electronic devices that have changed our lives forever.
