Weilheim with its rose village of Nöggenschwiel is one of the four members of the tourism co-operation Ferien Südschwarzwald, to which also Höchenschwand, Dachsberg, and Ibach belong.
The rose village of Nöggenschwiel in the Weilheim community
The Weilheim community consists of 16 locations. A specialty and rarity is the rose village of Nöggenschwiel. It is the only one of its kind in the Black Forest area and also the highest in all of Germany. About 20,000 roses of the most varied species are growing in the location, a variety garden with almost 200 different rose species invite you to linger. The Rose Variety Garden and the Rose Fragrance Garden, which will be opened in the summer of 2013, serve scientific purposes.
The state-registered recreational resort is idyllically situation on a high plateau of the Southern Black Forest area, completely away from any traffic noise.
The Rose Walking Trail of 32 km connects all of the Weilheim community locations. You can also enjoy the diversity of roses on shorter loop trails. Innumerable rose stations along the trail tell you about rose species and the history of the location on respective information boards.
On a clear day, you experience a fantastic view of the Alps.
