Description
The 4.4 km long Magic Trail is a children's hiking trail with great play stations, carvings, a bat cave with a magic stone and a barbecue area. It promises lots of fun and adventure. The figures were made by artists from the region. The story is told in comic form on information panels along the trail. The trail is primarily aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 10.
Author's recommendation
Take the chairlift up to the Hasenhorn mountain station and set off from there. It's best to pack provisions and plan a break at the Hebelshöhe barbecue area.
And for at home: the book on the trail by Sabine Steinebrunner is available at the Bergwelt Todtnau tourist information offices.
Directions
You start the trail at the valley station of the Hasenhorn chairlift. Take the chairlift to the top of the mountain "Hasenhorn" and comfortably climb almost 400 meters in 10 minutes. At the mountain station, you first enjoy the panorama over Todtnau, which is practically at your feet. Above you are the villages of Aftersteg, Muggenbrunn and Todtnauberg and the Feldberg on the far right. If you wish, you can make a detour to the Hasenhorn viewing tower (approx. 1/2 hour walk). From the Hasenhorn mountain inn, follow the signs for the Magic Trail. The story of the goblins Ilex and Farfara is told as a short story on boards. If you would like a more detailed version (it's worth it), you should buy the accompanying book. Available at the tourist information offices, at the valley station and in stationery stores. You can play at the many play stations, search for hidden objects and admire sculptures and figures. With a bit of luck, you'll find the magic stone at the end. Walking time approx. 2.5 hours. The trail can also be walked from the bottom to the top. However, the story on the boards is told from top to bottom.
Equipment
We recommend sturdy shoes! The trail is not suitable for baby carriages and back carriers can be borrowed from the Todtnau Tourist Information Office.
