Description
The tour is ideally suited for families with children who are not yet accustomed to large tours. Scenic extremely charming and always the view to the impressive Kornbühl.
If you want to extend the tour by a total of about 9 kilometers, it is best to turn right at the end of the tour shortly before Melchingen in the direction of Stetten unter Holstein. The cycle path always leads along the Lauchert and therefore has no inclines. In Stetten unter Holstein is a beautiful water playground on the Lauchert with a sunbathing area.
If you want to ride a bit further, you will pass the legendary Albmühle (once called Walzmühle) shortly before Hörschwag.
Author's recommendation
Short walk to the Kornbühl - promises a beautiful view! On hot days with children, plan a detour in the direction of Stetten u.H. (one way 4.5 kilometers) to the water playground.
Directions
The perfect bike tour for smaller cyclists - not too difficult, with a small incline and lots of variety, it leads through the beautiful landscape around the Kornbühl.
We start our tour at the sports grounds of Melchingen and take the cycle path along the Lauchert. We cycle about 500 meters, the Lauchert on our right, then cross the road and turn left towards Salmendingen. A short distance along Kirschenweg, before we turn left into Apfelweg and then right into Baumgartenstraße. At the end of the road we turn left and then right into Monkstraße. We leave the village and pedal a little harder uphill. With the wooded Monkberg always on our left, we cycle towards Kornbühl. Once there, turn right and continue through fields and meadows to the next intersection. At this junction turn right again in the direction of the Albtrauf. Straight ahead is the parking lot for hikers in Salmendingen. If you want to start a little discovery tour, you can leave your bikes here and walk up to the Salmendingen chapel. The view from Kornbühl over the hills of the Alb is worth the climb.
With the Kornbühl behind us, we follow the cycle path through the fields and meadows past a small forest. Arrived at the front we have a wonderful view. The Köhlberg refuge with barbecue area now offers the perfect place for a break, while the view sweeps down into the Killertal. Behind it lies the picturesque Hohenzollern Castle.
Back on the saddle, we continue towards Ringingen along the Albtrauf. We cross the town on the signposted cycle path. Small adventurers now make a detour to the ruins of Hohenringingen. It's on the Nähberg, which towers over Ringingen. Otherwise we turn left into Rausse and leave Ringingen. The next highlight is already waiting when we pass an alpaca farm and go slightly downhill through the "Schnittlauchtäle". Passing the Woog - a spring creek of the Lauchert - we reach our starting point in Melchingen.
As small as this lovely town is, it has a lot to offer: Those who still have time and desire can visit the castle ruins of Hohenmelchingen or the village museum. The widely known Theater Lindenhof also has its home here. And always on the second weekend in September, the whole place is one big pottery and handicraft market.
Those who have strength in their cycling calves can extend the tour by a total of about 9 kilometers and turn right behind the Woog past the Melchinger Mühle in the direction of Stetten u.H. The cycle path always leads along the Lauchert and has no ascents. A worthwhile destination awaits, because in Stetten a wonderful water playground on and in the Lauchert quickly perks up tired little cyclists, while parents can enjoy the heavenly peace and quiet on the adjacent sunbathing area.

Bike Signage:
Our bike paths are signposted according to the statewide FGSV bike path signs. At intersections, there are large white directional signs that list destinations with distance information in green lettering. Between the directional signs there are smaller, square markers indicating a bike path.
Our circular routes are attached to the large directional signs at junctions as slide-in signs with the appropriate symbol (mammoth, ammonite, crown, etc.). In between, the symbol is not to be found. The general cycle path signs apply here.
Attention, do not turn the wrong way! At the large directional signs, be sure to look for the green arrow. This shows you the way! Not the cardinal direction in which the sign is attached.
