The Turmsteige trail got its name right. Although we expect some height meters, we are rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and valleys in the southern Black Forest. When the skys are clear or there are inversion weather conditions, where the air is clearer and warmer, then we will have great views and maybe can also see the Alps on the horizon. In addition to the many great lookout towers we expect scenic features, when passing Gisibodenalm and hiking from there to "Präger Böden". The Turmsteige trail offers a special variety of nature experiences for every hiker. Highlights on the tour are the views from the two lookout towers on the Hasenhorn and Hochkopf, but the view from the treeless summit plateau of the Blößling also gives you a fantastic Black Forest panoramic view.
Open your eyes on the Black Forest Highlands premium hiking trails, because on every hiking path there is a stamp point in the form of a cuckoo clock. Take advantage of the Hasenhorn chairlift for the ascent to Hasenhorn.
Directions
We start the Turmsteige trails at the top station of the Hasenhorn chairlift. From there we hike to the Hasenhorn observation tower and the mountain pasture known as “Gisibodenalm”. From the Gisiboden mountain restaurant the trail leads us across a grazing pasture towards the Brenntkopf peak, and we continue hiking towards the area known as “Präger Böden”. Here we briefly follow a little road through the upper Prägtal valley before the signpost for the Turmsteige leads us to the left across the Prägbach stream bridge. When mother cows and calves are grazing on the pasture, we follow the signposts marked “Turmsteige Umleitung” (detour) towards the cross “Bernauer Kreuz”, and then hike down on the right into the upper Prägtal valley. There we will reach the regular trail guidance again from the detour and start the steep ascent towards Hofeck. From here it is another three kilometres to the hamlet Wacht between Bernau and Präg. We hike uphill to the summit of the Blößling (red route): 336 metres in altitude now have to be overcome on a distance of 2.4 km. A forest trail leads up in many switchbacks up to the Blößling summit. The Turmsteige trails now continue to follow the Black Forest Westweg trail down to the panoramic Blößling saddle and by hiking across the Präger Eck we get to the vantage points at “Hoher Zinken”, “Ledertschobenstein” and “Hochkopf”, where we have the opportunity to climb up the observation tower. On the Hochkopf Panorama Trail we proceed towards the mountain saddle Weißenbachsattel and Hochkopfhaus. From there we can take the bus back to Todtnau.

We recommend good shoes and a good conditon.
Safety information
The Turmsteige trail is not suitable for baby carriages. Due to the long distance, the hiking trail should not be walked with small children.
The hiking trail is suitable for dogs. Please keep your dog on a lead due to the narrow sections of the trail and the pastureland and watch out for other hikers.

At the guard at Bernau there is no bus stop. This bus stop is falsely drawn on many hiking maps.
