Through the "Wutachschlucht" we are initially on a section of the famous "Schluchtensteig" on the way, before we get into the wild and romantic "Gauchachschlucht". This smaller side gorge captivates with many small waterfalls as well as small bridges and footbridges, which lead us over the "Gauchach" again and again.
On the way we pass the hiking house "Burgmühle", where we can comfortably stop and do not miss the home-made cakes.
Another highlight is the demanding "Engeschlucht". Most of the trails are very wet and slippery, so be careful on the narrow paths. Then it goes over a meadow path back towards "Bachheim".
We now leave the crossroads Freiburg-Bodensee and hike upstream along the "Gauchach", in the direction "Burgmühle". The route leads us through the wild and romantic "Gauchach" Gorge, past the "Burgmühle" to the turnoff "Engeschlucht". At least here we realize why it is repeatedly pointed out that the hikes in the gullies are aimed exclusively at experienced hikers and sturdy shoes are mandatory. Even in dry weather, there are some smooth spots and narrow paths along the rocks, where tensioned steel cables provide us with support. But you have to take care in these places! We walk to the end of the "Engeschlucht" and a little road leads us back to the trail parking lot, from which we started.
Note:
waymarking available, but so far not specifically as "3-Gorges path" signposted.
