Beschreibung
There are four places that together form the municipality of Bad Überkingen: The main town itself and its sub-towns Hausen, Unterböhringen and Oberböhringen. They are all embedded in a wonderful cultural landscape, spread over 300 meters of altitude, blessed with a recognized healthy climate. Thanks to its picturesque location at the foot of the Swabian Alb, the traditional spa town also stands for healthy relaxation, unspoiled nature and impressive scenery.
Bad Überkingen earns the title of "spa" through constant inspections: Climate, water and air are certified. It also boasts a town center with historic half-timbered houses, a spa park that is one of the most popular photo motifs and the renovated thermal baths.

In the town center, it is always worth visiting the spa park with the thermal baths and the new Dead Sea Salt Grotto.
Spa park:
In a beautifully landscaped spa park with a fountain, Kneipp facility, spring temple, water cascade and many benches, you will find a place to linger and relax. The spa park offers an impressive natural experience in all seasons.
Easter fountain:
On Palm Sunday, you can admire the Easter fountain in the heart of Bad Überkingen for 3 weeks. Over 9,500 hand-painted eggs are artistically arranged here.
The natural spectacle of the spring snowflake blossom:
Every year in early spring - usually as early as March - a fantastic natural spectacle can be seen in the Bad Überkingen Autal and Rötelbachtal valleys. Thousands of magnificent spring snowflakes transform the ground into a sea of white flowers on the wide meadows in the light, damp hillside forest.
Wegbeschreibung
The half-height trail takes you around Bad Überkingen and offers plenty of variety. The 12 informative theme boards along the way provide exciting insights into the history of Bad Überkingen as well as interesting facts about the forest and water.
The starting point of the tour is the parking lot at the Autalhalle. From there, we follow the signs for the "Forest and Water Trail" into the picturesque Autal valley, past the idyllic forest chapel to the end of the valley. Here we have the opportunity to make a worthwhile detour to the "Brunnensteighöhle" cave and the impressive "Autal waterfall". The path leads us along tufa rocks overflowing with water and moss-covered cascades up to the Brunnensteighöhle cave. Due to the steep path, sturdy footwear and surefootedness are absolutely essential here!
Back on the main trail, the route continues along an easily accessible forest path through the forest reserve. The dense ravine forests and numerous tufa springs, which are characteristic of this area, are particularly impressive. At the head of the Rötelbach valley, we finally reach the ski hut, where a natural Kneipp facility invites us to refresh ourselves.
From there, the path leads us comfortably back to Bad Überkingen, where the circular walk ends.
Ausrüstung
Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. A rucksack with water, snacks and a first aid kit is recommended.
Sicherheitshinweise
The circular route is also easy to manage with a baby carriage.
At the waterfall, a detour or ascent to the Brunnenstein cave is only recommended with good shoes and sure-footedness.
