We explore the surroundings of the world's first ski lift with stunning views and numerous opportunities for rest and retreat.
Take a break with “Guscht” at the Bierhaus (open daily from 8 p.m., except Wed.). We kindly ask groups to book ahead, earlier opening possible (Tel.: +49 (0)7657 / 31557).
Our tour starts on Kirchweg at Schollach’s church. In earlier times, this route was often taken by the people of Schollach to get to Mass in Urach. We walk to the top and stay left. The path leads us along the outskirts of the forest to Schollach’s Sommerberg. We continue in the direction of Rengethof, where we are dazzled by the fantastic view of Renget with ist ponds and solitary trees. Staying at the top, we walk towards the chapel called Judas-Thaddäus-Kapelle, located above the traditional Black Forest farm Oberengenbachhof. Keeping a hearty break in mind, we continue to the inn Gasthaus Engel (open Tuesdays from 5 p.m., closed Wednesdays) on Hochberg. We proceed via Hochschachen to Schneckenhof, home of the world’s first ski lift. A break here is also worthwhile (closed Mondays). Taking the road, we head towards Jockenhof and stay left, bound for Unterengenbach. From here, we return to the church in Schollach. The tour is so planned that we leave at noon, as the proprietor “Guscht” of the Bierhaus opens his doors at 8 p.m (closed Wednesdays). To get to Guscht, we turn right at Beierleshof towards Oberschollach. The heartiness and hospitality of this experience is unbeatable and shouldn’t be missed. From here, it takes only 20 minutes to get back to the church.
