Tour through the forests north of Freudenstadt to Klosterreichenbach. Highlights: the “Friedensbaum“ (a sequoia tree from 1871), panoramic view over the Murgtal valley from the shelter Zimmerplatzhütte and lovely monastery church.
The outdoor swimming pool of Klosterreichenbach invites you for a refreshing swim.
Follow the “Mittelweg“ trail (red diamond with white stripe) to the northern outskirts of the town (signposts: Turmbräu, Stadtbahnhof): past the town hall via the streets “Forststrasse”, “Ringstrasse”, “Hirschkopfstrasse” and “Wildbader Strasse”. At the edge of the town, turn left into the “Heideweg” trail, which leads through the meadows up to the edge of the forest (signposts Jägerhof, Heide Herwig). You should look back at least once to enjoy the beautiful view of Freudenstadt. Follow the signs to Baiersbronn, past the Spielplatz Hüttenteich (playground + barbecue area) to signpost Platten. From there the blue diamond leads to the Surrbachkopf and to the right down to the Birkleshütte shelter. Do not go straight ahead here, but turn right uphill over the Hirschkopf hill to the Friedensbaum tree. Passing to the right of the sequoia tree, you reach the signpost Schönblickwegle. From there, follow the footpath to the signpost Misselewegle and then the trail via Rußenkopf, Zimmerplatz and Rosenberg to the Zimmerplatzhütte shelter (a rest area with a stunning view). After 700 m a narrow footpath (blue diamond) leads down to Klosterreichenbach via Rosenbergwegle and Dornstetter Weg. A stroll through the park brings you to the famous monastery church . Crossing the “Murgtalstrasse” you reach the station at Klosterreichenbach.
