We start in front of the clubhouse of the Oftersheim Small Animal Breeders' Association and - looking at the map from above - first draw a pointed V in the Hardtwald. We pass a few stations of the Trimm-Dich path before we turn left out of the forest between the edge of the field and the forest and head south again. Arriving in the hollow, we change our direction of travel to the east.
On the post path, we first touch a short section of the Oftersheim golf course, which is one of the most popular courses in Germany that can be played all year round due to its scenic location and the soil conditions (sandy soil). Characteristic of most of the course are its quiet straights. The longest, at a good 2 km, is the Birkenallee, which leads us to the southernmost point of the entire course.
After a large bend, we pass the golf course a second time - now across its entire southern width - and follow its course northwards before turning left to a dramatic change of terrain.
In the sometimes intense ups and downs of the Oftersheim dunes, dexterity, sure-footedness and stamina are required - and this after having already completed approx. 8.7 km. In return, we are rewarded with very varied terrain and, at the height of the barbecue hut, a magnificent view of Heidelberg and the Odenwald from the edge of the dunes.
