Description
Pure nature in the north of Schwetzingen and the south of Mannheim: our wonderful run through the Hirschacker and Dossenwald nature and landscape reserve begins exactly on the boundary of the two cities. It is part of the Schwetzinger Sand natural area and includes one of the most important shifting sand areas in Baden-Württemberg.
After the start, we turn north and immediately head for the first summit: the highest point in Mannheim at 114 m, placed on the top of a sand dune, marked by a sandstone complete with inscription, summit cross and summit book included.
On the following kilometres, the extraordinarily varied terrain makes you want to run with every step: small ups and downs in the forest hand over the baton to generous straights in open spaces. Dune, meadow, gravel path ... shade, half-light and bright sunshine.
The route we suggest requires a little surefootedness, but at an adapted pace it can also be mastered with pleasure by beginners. In addition, the Hirschacker and Dossenwald nature reserve offers many more marked paths and trails that are just waiting to be explored by you.
