Again and again, fascinating views and vistas of Beuren, the Beuren Rock and the region allow your mind to wander. Not for nothing was a part of the "hochgehfestigt" hiking trail named the Philosophers' Trail by a former mayor. Those who would like to share their thoughts and impressions with posterity can do so at the Willi Gras bench. There is a so-called "bench book" (similar to a summit book) ready to be entered.
The trail continues past the picturesque Tobelweiher pond, through sun-drenched vineyards and across natural flower meadows to the volcanic embryo Hohbölle (a small volcano that has long been extinct). Benches and loungers along the way invite you to take a break in a charming landscape.
The highly fortified Hohenneuffen castle ruins, one of the largest fortifications in southern Germany, are also always worth a detour and contribute to the appropriate title of the tour.
Enjoy the view from the Hohenneuffen castle ruins and relax in the Panorama Therme Beuren after your hike.
We start at the Panorama Therme Beuren car park and walk past the "Raufwäldle" playground through the meadows towards Balzholz. We keep to the left and walk through the orchard meadows on the outskirts of Balzholz, gradually ascending more steeply into the forest.
A steep forest path leads to the ruins of Hohenneuffen Castle. Return along the same forest path and follow the path above the ski lift. Continue along the Philosopher's Path and past the boards of the forest nature trail. There are places to sit and lie down, and there are always great views of Beuren, the Hohbölle, the Beurener Fels and the region.
The trail leads along mainly gravelled paths to the Tobelweiher pond. Slightly uphill, we follow the path into the vineyards. The trail descends through the vineyards until it climbs slightly again over meadow paths to Hohbölle. On the outskirts of Beuren, the trail continues flatly back to the starting point at the Panorama Therme Beuren.
Suitable footwear is recommended.
Your safety is important for us, which is why you will find emergency call badges along the road at regular intervals, clearly marked with the emergency number 112. By means of the exact location marking, the emergency services can reach you more quickly in an emergency.
Special features of the trail:
Observation of hang-gliders taking off from a meadow near Hohenneuffen and landing near the Panorama Therme Beuren.
Information boards on the forest nature trail, which teach hikers about the inhabitants and plants of the forest.
The Beuren vineyards offer a wonderful play of colours, especially in autumn.
There are barbecue sites in the immediate vicinity of the trail at the ski hut and Balzholzer Hütte.
