Dear bikers,
The magical symbol of the Swabian Alb –the most historic uplands of Germany – is the unique Löwenmensch figurine, or lion man. The lion is depicted in the crest of Germany’s state Baden-Württemberg and represents power and dignity, pride and strength. Numerous stories exist about the "king of animals" who will make you want to discover the Alb with all its facets.
Not only can the traces of the lion be followed on our hiking trails: the Löwentrails represent mountain biking in diverse nature settings, panoramic views and mysterious places. The three loop biking trails between 16 and 30 kilometres are especially beginner-friendly and show the diversity of the Albtrauf. The trail sections are moderate, therefore the trails do not require technical ability for riding the tracks. In addition to steep climbs and breath-taking landscapes, the focus above all is on having fun with biking.
Comfortable places to stop for refreshments, three certified thermal baths and optimal transport connections make the unique landscape around the "double Albtrauf" shaped by the Fils an unforgettable experience.
Enter the lion's territory and make it yours!

Directions
Starting at the car park Reußenstein, which can also be reached with the RadWander bus on Sundays, the eponymous castle is within reach. The castle towers upon massive rock cliffs, overlooking the beautiful Neidlinger valley. The actual route goes past the Reußenstein estate along the borders of the biosphere reserve to Bläsiberg mountain. From there we follow the path over the level Alb plateau before going down into the Schön valley shortly after the Fohlenhaus. After a short ride on a paved path, the route takes us back up to the Lammwirt pond. From here the tour runs at a half-height below the Sommerberg with always beautiful views of the town of Wiesensteig. After the Katzen rock it goes downhill into the valley, past the outdoor pool, which invites you to take a refreshing break, in the direction of the paper mill. We continue to the next highlight of the tour: the source of the river Fils. Once there, in addition to a shelter and two barbecue areas, an impressive setting of meadows, forests and the river Fils await us. After coming through the wildly romantic Hasen valley we return to the Alb plateau with a moderate climb and shortly afterwards reach the starting point of our loop trail.
