This extensive driving tour of Mannheim provides a comprehensive overview and shows the many different faces of the city. Starting at the coach park at Toulonplatz in the city centre, the tour first takes in the impressive former residence of the Elector, Europe’s second largest baroque palace. The historic water tower, located in the centre of the unusual Art Nouveau square of Friedrichsplatz, is the next stop on the agenda showcasing a real Mannheim landmark. The route then takes an excursion to the East, crossing to the other side of the River Neckar. After crossing the Neckar again, on the drive back towards the city centre the bus passes the splendid mansions from the time of the city’s founding in the Oststadt district and the boulevard-style Augustaanlage. On the other side of the Kurpfalz bridge, the tour crosses into the attractive Neckarstadt district and circles one of the largest district squares in the city, the Alter Messplatz. Back on the other side of the Neckar, you will pass the Yavuz-Sultan-Selim mosque, one of Germany’s largest mosques, travel through the trendy Jungbusch neighbourhood and, on a detour over the Rhine into neighbouring Ludwigshafen, get a glance of the busy port. The tour ends where it started, opposite the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums.
This tour can also be booked in German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian.
