"On the trail of the red deer" - stage 1 B: Freudenstadt - Besenfeld

This route leads through extensive forests, mainly on wide trails, and along the heights towards Klosterreichenbach. There are some magnificent views over the Murg Valley in the last section. On a narrow footpath, we descend to Klosterreichenbach with its abbey, swimming pool as well as shopping and refreshment facilities. A beautiful path leads from the village up to the edge of the forest, where we can rest on benches in the sun and take in the fantastic view over the village and the Murg Valley. The trail then continues steadily uphill through the forest. Once we reach the top, we follow the well-maintained Mittelweg trail through the forest to Seewald-Besenfeld and Hotel Oberwiesenhof which is located in the middle of the village.

 

This route is more demanding in terms of fitness, as much of the descent (towards Klosterreichenbach) and ascent is on steep, narrow paths, which can be tricky when wet.
