Description

The second stage begins at the valley station of the historic, newly restored Merkur mountain railway. This can easily be reached by bus lines 204 and 205 or by car. A free parking lot is available.

Those who would like to fortify themselves briefly before the 8. 6 kilometer hike have the choice between the hospitality of the „Waldcafé „at the foot hill mountain and the restaurant „Merkurstüble“ on top of the Merkur mountain.
Strengthened, we continue towards the "Häslichmatte", a sun-kissed sunbathing lawn in the middle of the forest. Via the shady forest paths you reach the so-called Eckmatte, where a turn-off leads to the game reserve. Mouflons, fallow deers, red deers and wild boars have their home here.

We continue uphill towards Eckberg. Along the historical „Eckhöfe“ you can enjoy wonderful views of Baden-Baden and the Lichtenthal Monastery, founded in 1245. A short detour to the Marienkapelle is not to be missed, because here woods, sunny vines and a wonderful view meet each other – perfect to enjoy a moment of peace. Afterwards, the paths lead through idyllic orchards and lush greenery, passing by peacefully grading highland cattle. The tour ends at a well known former television cult resort “Forellenhof. ” The Waldhotel of the same name invites you to linger for a while with its gastronomic offer and typical food oft he region.
