Friedrich Schiller found his world stage in Mannheim. This is where he became famous, becoming a star among contemporary playwrights thanks to the world première of his play “The Robbers” at the National Theatre in Mannheim. Today, the theatre still proudly bears the name “Schiller stage”. But fame was not the only thing her experienced in the city of the Electors. He almost ended up in the debtor’s prison – but luckily a generous friend came to his rescue.
