Do you fancy a route that, at exactly 5,005 m, is almost exactly the same as a 5-km run to the metre? Then we recommend you start in the south-west of the city and take a trip to the Schwetzinger Hardt nature and forest reserve. We start in Sternallee between the barbecue hut and the clubhouse of TV 64 Schwetzingen on one side and the children's playground on the other.
At the furthest point from the start and finish of our run, we pass the Schwetzinger Hardt waterworks, which uses 20 vertical filter wells to supply an annual average of 11.5 million m3 of drinking water not only to consumers in Schwetzingen, Oftersheim, Plankstadt and Ketsch, but also in Heidelberg and Mannheim.
Apart from the fact that the loop to the waterworks and back offers all kinds of amusement through different terrain, it has the special feature of being 5 km long, making it ideal for performance comparisons and thus for general and specific running training.
