Directions
Walk on the "Ostweg" trail (symbol: black and red diamond) towards Lauterbad / Lossburg along "Lossburger Straße" and "Lauterbadstraße" to Park Courbevoie. Following the yellow diamond, cross the park and walk uphill along "Huppenbauerstraße" and "Ernst-Luz-Weg" to the signpost Frank-Buchmann-Weg. Passing the Köhlerhütte shelter, walk along the "Oberer Palmenwaldweg" to Zollernblicksteige and straight on to the "Berghütte Lauterbad" chalet (stunning view). Return to the signpost Zollernblicksteige and descend to the Waldhotel Zollernblick. Now the blue diamond leads through the village of Lauterbad towards Lossburg and the Vogteiturm tower. Enjoy the magnificent view over Lossburg and the hilly countryside towards the Swabian Mountains.
Now follow the yellow diamond along the allotment gardens and the “Traufweg“ to the signpost Schlössleeck. There keep to the right downhill to the idyllic lake Kinzigsee. Cross the lake on a boardwalk and follow the trail uphill via Waldlehrpfad and Sandwiese to Ödenwald. Walking along the forest edge, you get to Alpenblick and the chalet “Zum Strutwirt". Now the yellow diamond leads towards Vordersteinwald. After 1 km, at the small pond, walk left uphill to the village of Vordersteinwald. Follow the street to the right, past the "Gasthof Steinwald", after 150 m the trails towards Freudenstadt branches off to the right. At the signpost Moosbrunnen walk straight ahead to Hummelstern. Turn left on the "Ostweg" trail (red and black diamond) that leads back towards Freudenstadt. At the signpost Masselkopf you can make a quick detour (300 m) to the left to see the giant fir “Großvatertanne” located off the main trail. Continue from Masselkopf on the “Ostweg” trail to the “Kienberg” (Friedrichshöhe) with “Cafe Friedrichs”. The “Friedrichsturm” tower provides a wonderful panoramic view over the Black Forest and Freudenstadt with its special Nine Men’s Morris layout. Passing the mini-golf park (signpost Gartengolf) and Park Courbevoie, you return to the Marktplatz along the same route as in the beginning.
