Hohenlohe
Hohenlohe has variety: first-class hotels and country inns, farm holidays and lake-side campgrounds, nature and culture, sport and marvelous concerts during the Hohenlohe Cultural Summer.
Then there are the castles and the idyllic small towns that guarantee plenty to see and do whether you are a gourmet, culture or nature lover.
Clean, green rivers: the Jagst, Kocher and Tauber
Two rivers, the Kocher and the Jagst, flow into the River Neckar. One of the most popular cycle trails in Germany, the Kocher-Jagst cycling route follows the two rivers, offering around 200 miles/330 km of wonderful scenery. Cyclists can start at any point on this circular route, which has family-friendly sections as well as more demanding rides. Along the river valleys are palaces, old churches, and towns that are well worth exploring.
Exploring Jagsttal (the Jagst Valley)
One of the must-sees is Langenburg Castle. High above the River Jagst, this former fortress is a magnet for culture lovers, gardening enthusiasts and classic car fans. The Counts of Hohenlohe (who still live here) rebuilt the castle as a Renaissance palace, with magnificent gardens. In the old stables, the Langenburg Castle Automobile Museum houses 65 vehicles, documenting the development of the car, from vintage models to the present day.
Then there is Schöntal monastery, one of Germany’s most beautiful baroque monasteries. The highlight is the staircase in the New Abbey, with its sweeping railings and magnificent ceiling paintings - a Rococo jewel.
Luxury-class spas and holistic cosmetics
Deep in the forests of the Hohenlohe plateau is the luxury Friedrichsruhe Hotel. Surrounded with a grand wooded park, the Counts of Hohenlohe’s former hunting lodge has been transformed into an oasis of tranquility, with modern comforts, such as exclusive spa treatments and a fine golf course.
Anyone looking for special beauty products should try the hotel’s vinotherapy treatments. Using “SanVino” products, such as wine and grape seed oil from grapes grown in the Hohenlohe region, the treatments stimulate blood circulation and strengthen cardiovascular and immune systems.
