Haute cuisine

High-quality dining doesn’t get any better than in Southwest Germany. And we have the stars to prove it: more Michelin stars and better Gault Millau guidebook ratings than any other German state. Good food is part of the way of life.

Gourmet tips from Gault Millau

Gault Millau is another highly-respected international gourmet guide to restaurants and wine. In fact, their “Gourmet Guide to Southwest Germany” is their first and only guide devoted to just one Federal State. As well as restaurants, the Gault Millau food critics were impressed by the quality of the wines and the local produce.

Baiersbronn: a gourmet pilgrimage destination

Thanks to its eight Michelin stars, the small Black Forest community of Baiersbronn is no longer a secret. Take a culinary tour. Start in chef Jörg Sackmann’s Schlossberg restaurant, with one star. Then move on to the legendary Hotel Bareiss in Mitteltal, with 3-Michelin-star chef Claus-Peter Lumpp. Finish in the Schwarzwaldstube with 3-Michelin star or the Köhlerstube with 1-Michelin star at the Hotel Traube in Tonbach.
