Most recently, the Vienna Philharmonic invited him to record all of Beethoven's symphonies with them. Now conductor Andris Nelsons presents Beethoven's famous Fifth Symphony to the Festspielhaus audience in a delightful compilation. There is, for example, the concert aria "Ah! Perfido", sung by the soprano Christiane Karg. Although Beethoven composed the aria as a young man, the dramatic work did so well alongside the fifth symphony that the composer simply revised the opus number of the aria when it was first performed, thus making the work seem considerably newer. In addition to the Beethoven, a highly romantic piece will be heard: Schoenberg's "Transfigured Night" in the string orchestra version.
