A guitar concert in the Festspielhaus! You rarely hear anything like that in Germany, where the instrument is quickly associated with campfires or rock music.
In Spain, on the other hand, the guitar stands for pride and sorrow: strict rhythm and its opposite, losing oneself in improvisation.
The Spanish national composer Manuel de Falla uses both rhythmic rigour and improvisational freedom to create a musical monument to the French composer Claude Debussy.
This masterpiece is just one of the pieces to be discovered in this matinee.
