Queen Irene of Byzantium, a daughter-in-law of Barbarossa, is the most famous Staufer buried here over 800 years ago. The heyday of the Benedictine monastery was in the late Middle Ages. Even today, the charming complex with church, enclosure, farm buildings and monastery garden, surrounded by a still completely preserved circular wall, can be visited.
In the chapter house is the Staufer rotunda. 30 m long and 4.5 m high, it vividly tells the story of the Staufer dynasty.
